Baylor University

I had to go to the grocery store yesterday. After making my run I decided to go drive around the Baylor campus and snap a few photos and share them here. the picture below is one of the signs indicating that this is the Baylor University campus, as if it wasn't already obvious that you are there.

This is a picture of one of the Baylor ballparks. It is near the Brazos River, as is most things in this area of the campus.

This is another of the Baylor Ballparks. This might be one of the softball diamonds. i am not sure since I haven't attended one of their games since these were built.

This is one of the newer residence halls on the south side of the campus. It is like huge. When I went to Baylor this area was the Inter murals field and band practice field. Maybe the band doesn't need to practice anymore. More than likely they just practice somewhere else.

This is the Jeanes Discovery Center at the Mayborn Museum. It is a great place to take a field trip with the little ones. When I went to Baylor this was a field of Johnson Grass. I suppose if you wait long enough some big buildings will sprout. At least that's what has happened at Baylor.

A Few Memorable Memories! What Did You Expect?

Snow in Deleon in the Winter of 2003. Looking up the street I see that I am the only one out taking pictures. I prepared very early for this blog.

A hail storm later in the Spring of 2003. I dared not venture any further for fear I would get bonked on the noggin.

A View From Lover's Leap

Here are a few snaps I took at Cameron Park. I drove up to Lover's Leap for a look and took my camera with me. I remember coming here when I was little. You could climb around the edge and hike down to the river. Legend has it that two Huaco Indian lovers ran away and jumped to their death off this cliff. It seems that the their families didn't approve of their courtship. In the recent past others were climbing around and fell to their death. In response the city has erected fence barricades to discourage this climbing.

This is a view of the Bosque River looking north. About a mile south of this spot is the confluence of the Bosque and the Brazos River.

Looking north past a fence barricade to the end of the old retaining wall. This is the wall I would climb around to get down to the river. Ahhh, those were the good old days.

This is an old wind worn tree at the top of Lover's Leap.

Looking past another fence barricade there is a big chunk missing from this retaining wall. This area was always my favorite because it juts out farther that any other part of the wall on the cliff.

A Few Pictures That Show Why I Love Texas

Bluebonnets in April 2007. We had a late season snow after the bluebonnets bloomed. The combination made for some beautiful shots as you can see in the two pictures below.

A picture of the Texas flag. It is early evening and the sun has begun to set. If I had been a few minutes earlier I could have captured the sun directly behind the flag. That would have been great.

This is a picture of a rain shower to the east of the back field. In the lower right hand corner of the picture you can see a rainbow created by the play between the sunlight and the rain .

This is a beautiful sunrise behind the house on very warm and muggy summer morning.

A few days later Waco was playing host to hot air balloon races. The mornings that the balloons were launching were generally hazy and foggy. On the last day of the events I was able to capture these two balloons as they drifted in the distance behind our house.

Another beautiful summer sunrise that I was able to capture. This time I was able to get the sun as it filtered through the early morning haze.
