Rainbow's End

Shortly after a recent thunderstorm I went outside and saw this rainbow above the house. After taking the picture I noticed that there was a fainter rainbow to the left of the brighter one.

I looked for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. I never found it.

Independence Day In Waco

Each Fourth of July the City of Waco hosts a fireworks display. The fireworks are shot from Indian Springs Park on Brazos River / Lake Brazos downtown. Several years ago we lived downtown on Columbus Avenue about 5 blocks from the river. In 2004 I took a few pictures of the fireworks from our balcony. The green glow in each picture is a security light on the McLennan County Jail building which was one block away. The domed structure is the McLennan County Courthouse. And the red lettering is the top of the ALICO Building. More pictures of the ALICO can be found at my March 31, 2008 post.

Baylor University

I had to go to the grocery store yesterday. After making my run I decided to go drive around the Baylor campus and snap a few photos and share them here. the picture below is one of the signs indicating that this is the Baylor University campus, as if it wasn't already obvious that you are there.

This is a picture of one of the Baylor ballparks. It is near the Brazos River, as is most things in this area of the campus.

This is another of the Baylor Ballparks. This might be one of the softball diamonds. i am not sure since I haven't attended one of their games since these were built.

This is one of the newer residence halls on the south side of the campus. It is like huge. When I went to Baylor this area was the Inter murals field and band practice field. Maybe the band doesn't need to practice anymore. More than likely they just practice somewhere else.

This is the Jeanes Discovery Center at the Mayborn Museum. It is a great place to take a field trip with the little ones. When I went to Baylor this was a field of Johnson Grass. I suppose if you wait long enough some big buildings will sprout. At least that's what has happened at Baylor.
